Never Introduce yourself as a developer, Here’s Why??

When someone asks you what you do, what’s your go-to response?
For me, it used to be,
“I’m a JavaScript Developer.”
But then I realized…
How incorrect it is, as most people have no idea what that means!
And I see the Big Question mark on their faces!
Do they understand what you mean, and Can they strike up a conversation with you?

The truth is, that not everyone understands what a developer does, let alone a JavaScript developer. However, most people are familiar with mobile apps and websites.
But once I changed my introduction to
“I build Mobile Apps and Websites for People and Help them grow digitally”
People’s faces lit up! They’d get excited and ask follow-up questions or even ask me to make one for their business. It was amazing!
Do people also react the same way to your profession?
Does this happen to you also and your conversation is shunned from that point
So, I want to challenge you: how can you reframe your intro to spark more interesting conversations?
