10 Things I’d Whisper to My Younger Self (And Maybe You Need to Hear Too)
10 timeless lessons every developer should hear — sooner than later.

If I could sit beside the 10-year-old version of me — curious, a little unsure, and probably building something random on a computer — I’d have so much to say. Not advice from a pedestal, but soft truths I wish someone had told me when everything felt overwhelming and exciting all at once.
So, if you’re in your 20s and still figuring life out, this might feel familiar.
- It’s okay not to have a plan.
School and college make you believe you need to know exactly what you’ll do in life. But after that, you’ll be struggling a bit to find your true calling, so listen to yourself rather than sidelining your emotions. - Nobody is confident all the time.
Even the most “sorted” people have doubts. Confidence isn’t something you’re born with — it’s built, one uncomfortable decision at a time. The key is to keep going on. - Tech is cool — but you don’t have to know everything.
I know how it exactly you felt with these words going on — “I don’t know anything, I am not good enough”. There will always be someone who knows more. That’s not a threat — it’s a gift. Learn from them, ask questions, stay curious. - Rejection is Redirection
That college you didn’t get into, that job you lost, that opportunity you missed — each one is secretly leading you to something better. - Don’t be afraid to be loud about your wins.
You’re not being arrogant. You’re being seen. And that visibility will open more doors than quietly waiting for someone to notice you. Always seek opportunities instead of looking at obstacles that will be a differentiator for you. - Rest is productive too.
Your worth isn’t tied to how many things you’ve built or how fast you can debug. Breaks are part of growth. - Talk to people outside your industry.
The best ideas often come from unexpected places. You don’t grow in an echo chamber. Go to events, meet people, network and learn. - One skill can change your whole life.
Sometimes it’s not a degree or certification — but a single skill (like writing, design, or networking) that shifts your trajectory entirely and you don’t know where your hobby can lie. Never be afraid of taking risks, risk makes you grow and build your character. - People remember how you made them feel.
Not your GPA, not your latest framework, but your kindness, your words, your energy. Invest in that. Provide value instead of just taking it and you’ll see change in your whole life. - You’re already doing better than you think.
Stop comparing. Start acknowledging how far you’ve come. Because younger you would be so proud of where you are now. Totally and all the credit of what I am right now goes to my younger self, who worked hard to make me reach here. I love you Chhotu Neha❤️
